Artist Robert Shetterly will join Maine-Wabanaki REACH’s Esther Attean and Denise Altvater for “Truth and Reconciliation in Maine: The harm done to Wabanaki children and how the Wabanaki/Maine partnership promotes healing,” on Thu., Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. in Delano Auditorium at Leavitt Hall, Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.
Tickets are $20 for this fundraiser, sponsored by the Trinity Episcopal Church of Castine.
Sharing from his acclaimed “Americans Who Tell the Truth” series, Shetterly will be joined by two of his most recent portrait subjects, Attean, REACH co-director, and Altvater, REACH youth outreach and education coordinator. Both women have been central to the development of the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth & Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
Before the 7 p.m. presentation, Trinity Espicopal Church will host a Food and Wine Reception at 5:30 p.m. in its Parish Hall, located at 150 Perkins Street in Castine.
Proceeds support REACH and Trinity Espicopal Church.
